SPINDLETOP ROLLER GIRLS 2012 LEAGUE ANNOUNCEMENTS
Changes, Information and Call for Volunteers and Athletes
Spindletop Rollergirls is a Women’s Flat Track Derby Association ranked league. For the 2012 roller derby season, SRG would like to announce the addition of two teams to the SRG League. In addition to the home team that our fans know and love, we’re welcoming Bayou Outlaw Roller Girls as our second home team, and are thrilled to announce that a new team, Spindletop All Stars, will be formed from members of the two home teams.
The Spindletop All Stars will play all WTFDA sanctioned games (also called ‘chartered’ games). These are the games that affect the WFTDA ranking of Spindletop Rollergirls as a league. The Spindletop All Stars will also represent SRG in tournament games this year.
All three teams ( the as-yet-unnamed SRG home team A; the Bayou Outlaw Rollergirls and the Spindletop All Stars) will play derby games at home and away this year.
All of our home games for all three teams will be played at Ford Park.
With the addition of another home team, the former ‘Spindletop Rollergirls’ team will need a new name to avoid confusion with Spindletop Rollergirls League. We will be announcing a contest to choose the new name in the coming weeks.
The 2012 schedule for Spindletop Rollergirls League has been posted on the SpindletopRollergirls.com home page.
The schedule lists all home and away games for all three teams. We look forward to seeing all of our fans, both new and dedicated, at all of our games this year.
We are recruiting skaters for the 2012 derby season, from
beginners to advanced; we will teach you everything you need
to know to. If skating hard-core derby isn’t for you,
Spindletop Rollergirls also has a recreation league that
meets every Monday at 7PM at Ford Park, and numerous
volunteer and sponsor opportunities. If you’re interested in
skating with us or lending your support this year as a
volunteer or sponsor, come out next Monday! |
